To our international students
To our international students
The Yomiuri Institute of Technology was founded in 1969 and currently manages two schools in the Tokyo Metropolitan area; the Yomiuri College of Medicine and Welfare (Koishikawa, Bunkyo-ku) and the Yomiuri College of Auto Mechanics (Kameido, Koto-ku). Ever since our founding, both of these institutions have been taking in international students seeking to acquire skills and expertise often associated with Japan.
In order to provide a more comprehensive range of services for our international students, we have established an international student support room at both of our colleges. A dedicated team of staff provides comprehensive support, offering a range of consultation services to support the every-day life of our students and assistance in renewing their residency status in Japan.
Departments offering places to international students
The Yomiuri College of Medicine and Welfare consists of a Broadcasting Department offering courses in broadcasting and media, Mass Communication Production Department, Architectural Department offering courses in architecture and electronics, Electrical Engineering Department, and Nursing Care & Welfare Department, offering courses in care giving and welfare. All of the above are two-year courses.
Yomiuri College of Auto Mechanics has an Automobile Maintenance Department (2-year course) and a First Class Maintenance Department (4-year course).

Features of each college

The Yomiuri College of Medicine and Welfare
The Yomiuri College of Medicine and Welfare moved into its new campus completed in April 2020 in Koishikawa, Bunkyo-ku in the heart of Tokyo. The college offers a learning environment equipped with the latest educational facilities. It offers a broad range of courses for students looking for work with TV program production companies or in the IT industry or those looking to acquire nationally recognized qualifications to help them find work in their desired field.

The Yomiuri College of Auto Mechanics
The Yomiuri College of Auto Mechanics aims for students to acquire the nationally recognized qualification as an automobile mechanic. 98.2% of students who graduated in March 2019 acquired their qualification as a Class 2 Automotive Mechanic and 100% gained employment. We have also recently been holding job fairs, inviting personnel from overseas automotive repair shops and we have seen an increase in international students gaining employment not only in Japan, but also their home countries.
Tuition support scheme
Both colleges offer their own unique tuition support schemes designed to reduce the economic burden placed on international students with the motivation to learn.
These schemes exempt privately funded students that have passed the N2 level or above in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or acquired a test score of 200 or above in Japanese as a foreign language in the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students from a portion of their tuition or pay scholarships up to a maximum of 150,000 yen over two years to privately funded students that satisfy attendance criteria following their enrolment (for more information, see the Application Guidelines for International Students).
